Dubrovnik Croatia. I meet a new best friend.

17/9/12

Once again we proved the value of skipping the organised shore tour and doing our own thing. The six of us hooked up with another couple and shared two cabs into town and headed straight for the old walled city.

The weather was nice and warm and perfect for exploring the city. It's a long walk around the wall surrounding it so we took our time and enjoyed the views.

The view of the city interior from the top of the wall.

The water is crystal clear and reflects an amazing blue colour.

I was surprised by the loud cheer that went up when the gate closed on this.

Not a bad view.

There was a lot of up and down steps as we walked around the wall. Lots of creaking knees as well.

Check out the size of this seagull!

A pleasant little marina. A lot of the boats had pizza ovens on the back end.

Suzanne found a shop that sold these masks. That's OK but now she wants to collect masks. At over $125 AUD each I don't think so.

 My new best friend.

This guy was so cool. he could have taken my ear off if he wanted to. His mate kept getting down off his perch and walking over to Suzanne. He wanted her ice cream cone.

Last time we were here we didn't enjoy the walled city as much. Maybe walking the wall made the difference. Dubrovnik is a lovely city, in fact George Bernard Shaw said "Those who seek paradise on earth should come to Dubrovnik and see Dubrovnik." Maybe you should visit if you get a chance.

Suzanne and I decided to call it a day and head back to the ship while the others took the cable car to the mountain top lookout.

Corfu is our next stop. Let's see what we can find there.
